Student-Athletes Honored at Halftime
The University of Louisville has announced the Athletic Director's Honor Roll for the 2015 spring semester. The honorees will be recognized at halftime of the football game against Samford Sept. 26 at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium
The list includes athletes, managers, trainers, spirit squads and the pep band totaling 483 students in all. Breaking it down further, 338 of 542 student-athletes made the list.
Academics is having a banner year in its first season as an ACC member. The University of Louisville completed its inaugural season in the Atlantic Coast Conference with 285 student-athletes named to the 59th annual ACC Honor Roll, recognizing academic excellence during the 2014-15 academic year. The Honor Roll is comprised of student-athletes who participated in a varsity-level sport and registered a grade point average of 3.0 or better for the full academic year.
In addition, 276 student-athletes were named Red and Black Scholar Athletes (3.25 cumulative GPA or better). This is a record number. Another 131 members of the spirit groups, managers, trainers and pep band earned this honor as well. UofL had 15 of 19 teams with a 3.0 or higher in the Fall 2014 semester and 16 of 19 teams were above a 3.0 in the Spring 2015 semester. This marks nine straight semesters the total semester GPA has been above a 3.0.
Fifteen teams posted a perfect score in the most recent single-year Academic Progress Rate (APR) data. The 15 UofL sports -- nine women's and six men's -- with a perfect 1000 APR score for the most recent 2013-14 figures consist of baseball, men's and women's basketball, men's cross country, field hockey, men's and women's golf, women's lacrosse, women's rowing, softball, women's soccer, men's and women's tennis, men's indoor track and volleyball.
