Alex Gornet posts third straight singles victory to win his consolation draw at Duke James Block Invite
CARY, N.C. – The University of Louisville's Alex Gornet won the consolation draw of the Blue Singles Division on the final day of the Duke James Bonk Invite in Cary, N.C.
"We still have room for plenty of improvement after our first fall invitational," said UofL assistant coach Jakob Gustafsson. "It was nice to see Alex win three matches in a row as well as Courtney finishing on a high note. It's now time to get back to practice and improve in all areas."
In the consolation finals of the Blue Division, senior Alex Gornet defeated East Tennessee State's Diego Nunez 7-6, 6-1 for his third straight singles victory.
Playing in the consolation finals of the White Division, sophomore Santiago Salazar lost to Old Dominion's Aziz Kijametovic (ODU) 6-2, 6-1 to record a runner-up finish. In the same consolation draw, sophomore Courtney Lock defeated Radford's Michiel Meekers 6-3, 6-1 in the third place bracket.
Sean Donohue posted a sixth place finish in the Black Singles division after falling 6-2, 7-5 to East Tennessee State's Robert Herrera.
