Student-Athletes Attend Summer Social
July 30, 2015 | General, Beyond the Buzzer
The Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), Louisville International Family Enrichment Program (LIFE) and Student-Athletes of Color Combining Opportunity and Responsibility for Excellence (SCORE) joined together to kick off the new school year with a student-athlete summer social Wednesday evening.
Teams attended to escape the summer heat and enjoy the company of their fellow UofL student-athletes. Teams in attendance received points towards the Cardinal Cup, a competition that encourages team participation and community support. Student-athletes also partook in the SAAC's most recent service project at the summer social.
Attendees were encouraged to bring either unused toiletries or non-perishable foods for the UofL Kick-off Game Service Project. The LGBT Center is organizing a collection drive for Lost N Found Youth, Atlanta's only non-profit organization dedicated to serving homeless LGBT young people, ages 13 to 25. All donations made by student-athletes are to be distributed to the shelter during the weekend of the Chik-Fil-A Kick-Off Game. Supplies can be donated at various sites around campus until Friday, August 14.

The social was a great success according to field hockey's Hailey Netherton, "My team really enjoyed getting to see some people that they hadn't seen all summer and the food was great!"
