
Softball Summer Update

Since the 2015 season ended, several Louisville softball players have earned honors while former Cardinals continue their careers in the professional ranks in the United State and overseas. The following is a first in a series of Louisville Softball Summer updates.
Newcomers
Incoming freshman Megan Hensley was named 2015 Miss Softball by the Kentucky High School Athletic Association and earned Gatorade Player of the Year honors for the second straight season. The All-State selection led Ashland Blazer High School to the winner's bracket finals of the state tournament where they posted a runner-up finish.
Incoming freshman Lillie Goetz was tabbed the Kentucky Class A Player of the Year and was an All-State selection after leading Owensboro Catholic to a 23-12 record on the season.
Incoming freshman Jordan Vorbrink earned Kentucky All-State Class 3A honors after leading Mercy Academy to the state playoffs.
Alums
Whitney Arion (2012-15)
In June, 2015 graduate shortstop Whitney Arion recently signed a contract with the Pennsylvania Rebellion - the newest member of the National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) league.
Kelsi Jones (2014-15)
In June, 2015 graduate outfielder Kelsi Jones signed a contract with the Chicago Bandits. As a member of the veteran-laden team, Jones has appeared in four games with three starts.
Melissa Roth (2007-10)
Catcher Melissa Roth is currently playing softball for the Vienna Mosquitoes in Austria. She has also played for teams in Italy, the Czech Republic and New Zealand.
Maggie Ruckenbrod (2011-14)
In June, Maggie Ruckenbrod traveled to Wesseling, Germany to play softball for the Wesseling Vermins.
