Softball to Face Kansas in Columbia Regional

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville softball team will travel to Columbia, Mo. to face Kansas (38-13) in the first round of the 2015 NCAA Championship on May 15 at 5 p.m. (ET). Missouri (39-14) earned the No. 10 overall seed and will play Indiana State (26-29)in the other first round game. The regional will continue through May 17. Television coverage for the regional has not yet been announced.
The winner of the Columbia Regional will advance to a Super Regional to play the winner of the UCLA Regional which features the overall No.7 seed UCLA, San Diego State, Texas and CS Northridge
The Cardinals are making their 12th straight NCAA appearance after posting a 30-17 overall record and a 16-7 mark ACC play during their inaugural season in the league. Louisville earned a fourth place finish during the regular season
"We're thrilled to be making another trip to the NCAA tournament," said UofL head coach Sandy Pearsall. "This will be a new destination for us, we haven't played at Missouri for a regional. I think our team is really excited and we'll work really hard this week to prepare for some tough opponents in this regional."

Louisville is led by All-ACC first team selection senior outfielder Kelsi Jones who is batting .375 with 36 runs, 17 doubles and 12 stolen bases. Fellow All-ACC first team pick sophomore pitcher Maryssa Becker leads the Cardinals in the circle with a 14-7 record, a 2.22 ERA and 137 strikeouts in 157.1 innings. She has also belted out a team-high nine home runs and 39 RBIs. Senior shortstop Whitney Arion rounds out the All-ACC first team members with a .323 batting average, 32 runs and 27 RBIs.
