LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville women's basketball team will spend Thanksgiving in southwest Florida, participating in the third annual Gulf Coast Showcase from Nov. 27-29 in Germain Arena in Estero, Fla.
The field that was announced on Tuesday consists of eight teams, including four - Dayton, Louisville, LSU, and Stanford - that competed in the NCAA Tournament and three that advanced to the WNIT (Maine, Marist, and Missouri State). Purdue went 11-20 last year and made it to the second round of the Big Ten Tournament.
The Cardinals are coming off their sixth-consecutive trip to the Sweet 16, posting a 27-7 overall record. Louisville posted a 12-4 mark in its inaugural season in the Atlantic Coast Conference, placing third in the regular-season standings and reaching the ACC Tournament semifinal.
Full Court Freshman All-Americans Mariya Moore and Myisha Hines-Allen headline the returnees, with Louisville boasting the No. 1-ranked signing class that consists of Taja Cole, Erin DeGrate, Asia Durr, Sam Fuehring, and Brianna Jones.
"The mission of the Gulf Coast Showcase is to annually showcase the best teams in women's hoops," ESPN analyst and Gulf Coast Showcase host Debbie Antonelli said. "Last year, UConn rolled to the tournament title but we have eight great programs for 2015 and any of those eight could be playing for the crown on Sunday night."
Matchups and ticket information will be announced at a later date.
