LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville women's basketball head coach Jeff Walz met with the media on Tuesday afternoon to review the Cardinals' 2014-15 season and look ahead to the 2015-16 campaign.
Walz, the Cardinals' eighth-year leader, guided the program to its sixth Sweet 16. Louisville capped its inaugural season in the Atlantic Coast Conference with a 27-7 record, placing third in the league standings behind a 12-4 mark.
In addition to discussing the group's departing seniors - Shawnta' Dyer, Sara Hammond, Jude Schimmel, Bria Smith, and Sheronne Vails - that was the winningest class in school history at 112-31, Walz highlighted the future of the program with AP honorable mention All-American and all-conference selection Mariya Moore and coaches' all-ACC freshman member Myisha Hines-Allen.
Walz noted the program's incoming class, ranked No. 1 in the nation, which consists of Taja Cole, Erin DeGrate, Asia Durr, Samantha Fuehring, and Brianna Jones. Durr and Cole both competed in the POWERADE Jamfest on Monday and will participate with Fuehring in the McDonald's All-American Games on April 1.
