The No. 74 University of Louisville women's tennis fell 4-3 to North Texas on Sunday afternoon at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.

"Playing the kind of schedule that we have, the margin for error is so small," said UofL head coach Mark Beckham. "I need for our players to understand that we have to give maximum focus for three to three and a half hours. That can be exhausting but we have no choice. I want to congratulate Coacy (Sujay) Lama and North Texas for showing we will us how to carry ourselves on the court and show nothing but positive demeanor. Right now our team thinks it is just about hitting the tennis ball, but once we figure out it is more than that we will start pulling out these tight matches that we have been losing."

The Cardinals won the doubles point when Elle Stokes and Ariana Rodriguez paired to win 8-7 at No. 1 doubles while Jessie Lynn Paul and Manuela Velasquez took No. 3 doubles, 8-5.

In singles play, North Texas took a 2-1 lead when Rodriguez was defeated by Anastasia Shestakova 6-2, 6-1 in No. 3 singles and Chloe Willets fell 6-3, 6-2 to Franziska Sprinkmeyer in No. 6 singles. Olivia Boesing tied the match at two apiece when she defeated Alexis Thomas 6-3, 6-2 in No. 5 singles action. The Mean Green retook the lead when Velasquez fell 7-5, 6-4 to Agustina Valenzuela in the No. 4 spot before the Cards tied it at three in the No. 2 spot when Paul defeated Kamilla Galieva, 2-6, 6-2, 6-4. North Texas clinched the 4-3 victory when Elle Stokes fell in the No. 1 spot 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 to Kseniya Bardabush.

The Cardinals return to action when the take a two-game road swing for ACC matchups against NC State and Duke.
