
Men's Cross Country Ranked 14th in the Final USTFCCA Poll

Cardinals earn final ranking of No. 14
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - After finishing winning their first NCAA Southeast Regional title on Saturday, the University of Louisville men's cross country team returned to the final USTFCCA Top 30 Poll at No. 14.
The Cards earned 195 points in the poll to stand at No. 14. Earlier this season the Cardinals debuted at No. 17 in the poll.  U of L's highest previous national ranking in the cross country coaches' poll was No. 13 in the 2007 season after winning their first ever BIG EAST Conference title.
Colorado is the first place selection after receiving 11 first place votes and comprising a total of 359 points. Louisville is one of six ACC teams ranked in the final poll as Syracuse is the first ACC team in the poll at No. 2 while another conference team, Virginia, stands at No. 12. The Cards' returned to the rankings after winning the Southeast Regional at Panaroma Farms in Earlysville, Va.
U of L had four runners finish in the top 20 at the regional, Edwin Kibichiy led the Cardinals with a third place finish. Kibichiy clocked a career best time of 29:14.6 to lead the Cardinals. Senior Ernest Kibet finished sixth with a time of 29:26.3, just missing his personal best time.  Newcomer Calvin Chemoiywo clocked a personal best time of 29:48.5 to finish 13th. Senior Japhet Kipkoech gave the Cardinals four runners in the Top 20. He finished 19th with a personal best time of 29:57.9.
Up next, U of L will host the NCAA National Championships on Saturday, Nov. 21 at E.P. 'Tom' Sawyer State Park. The event begins at noon with the women's race and the men's race will begin at 1:00 p.m.
