
Women’s Golf Inks Two Standouts

Signees Lauren Hartlage and Delaney Shah will join the Cardinals in the fall of 2016.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – After signing the biggest class in program history a year ago, one that was loaded with talent, University of Louisville women's golf head coach Courtney Trimble built arguably the school's best class with two highly decorated student-athletes signing National Letters of Intent for 2016.
Beginning in the fall of 2016, the Cardinals will welcome in-state star Lauren Hartlage (Elizabethtown, Ky.) and Maryland standout Delaney Shah (Rockville, Md.).
According to Golfweek's class of 2016 rankings, Hartlage (Kentucky) and Shah (Maryland) are the top players in their respective states.

Lauren Hartlage, Elizabethtown, Ky., Elizabethtown High
Highlights: Is No. 10 in the class of 2016 Golfweek Junior rankings … tabbed the best player in the state of Kentucky in the class of 2016, according to Golfweek … won the 2014 and 2015 AJGA Under Armour/Jeff Overton Championship and the Golfweek Junior Tour Championship to go along with a fourth-place showing at the North and South Junior … was the 2015 Women's Western Amateur semifinalist in 2015 … named the 2015 Kentucky Girls Junior Player of the Year … advanced to the Round of 32 in match play at the 2015 USGA Girls Junior Amateur … placed 12th in the Junior PGA Championship, including a round of 69 at the event … a three-time Kentucky Golf Coaches Association Region Player of the Year (2013-15) … earned KHSAA academic all-state honors each year since 2012 …2015 AJGA HP Scholastic 1st Team All American … member of the Beta Club, Pep Club, and FCA … mother Kim played golf at Western Kentucky.
Coach Trimble on Hartlage: "Lauren is one of the best players to come out of state of Kentucky in several years. We're incredibly pleased that she decided to state in state. She had an amazing summer in both amateur and junior tournaments competing with and beating some of the best players in the country. She has shown that she will be a tremendous asset to our program and we look for Lauren to help our program continue to rise towards the top."

Delaney Shah, Rockville, Md., Wootton High School
Highlights: Is the highest ranked player from Maryland in Golfweek's class of 2016 rankings … a two-time individual state champion, winning the crown in 2014 and 2015 … took runner-up at the state championship the two previous years … chosen to represent the state of Maryland in the 2015 USGA Women's State Team Championship … earned runner-up honors at the 2015 Golfweek International Junior Invitational … qualified in 2014 and 2015 for the U.S. Junior Girls Championship … qualified for the 2016 USGA Women's 4-Ball … has helped guide high school to state titles in 2012 and 2013 … won the 2013 co-ed Montgomery County district championship … on the girl's side, is a three-time Montgomery County district titlist … earned Washington Post All-Met first-team honors in 2013 and 2014 … earned all-Gazette first-team honors each of those years … shot a career-best round at the prep level of 65.
Coach Trimble on Shah: "Delaney is a very experienced player, who has continued to get better over the past year and a half. She has the potential to be one of the best players in country. We are looking for her to come in and be a real impact player and will be an addition to our program."
