The University of Louisville women's tennis team swept visiting Butler 7-0 in the second half of a tennis doubleheader Sunday evening at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.

"I had a goal this weekend of getting a lot of matches in and identifying what things we needed to clean up going into the ACC kickoff this coming weekend. We accomplished that and are playing a pretty good level of tennis. I do know exactly what to work on toing into the match with No. 2-ranked Duke."

The Cards' No. 3 doubles pair of Elle Stokes and Ellie Gerlach beat Angelina Qin and Jordan Minnick 6-2 and then Olivia Boesing and Chloe Willetts beat Kailey Eaton and Bailey Padgett 6-2 at No. 2 to clinch the point.

In singles, Jessie Lynn Paul put up the first point with a 6-2, 6-1 followed by Chloe Willetts' win at No. 4 over BU's Kailey Eaton 6-3, 6-2. The clinching point was scored by Cassie Pough's 6-2, 6-3 win over Michelle McFerran. Elle Stokes beat BU's Bailey Padgett at No. 1 6-2, 6-4 just ahead of Olivia Boesing's 7-5, 6-2 win at No. 5. Ariana Rodriguez completed the streak with 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 2 over Konstantina Adami.

The Cardinals open their ACC slate Jan. 24 in Durham, N.C. with the No. 2 ranked Duke Blue Demons.
