
Women's Tennis Competes in Miami Invitational

The University of Louisville women's tennis team had five doubles wins and five singles wins Saturday at the Miami Invitational at the Hepburn Varsity Tennis Courts in Oxford, Ohio.
"Today was very good for us, we were pushed in every match we played. We competed very well and won some tough and physical matches," said UofL head coach Mark Beckham. "Today's MVP was Cassie Pough, who pushed through two tough matches."
The Cards faced off a field which included Bowling Green State, Miami, Xavier and Eastern Kentucky.
The doubles team of Manuela Velasquez and Ariana Rodriguez beat EKU 8-5 and Chloe Willetts and Ellie Gerlach downed Dominikia Hadnadova and Maricela Jimenez of EKU 8-6. Caroline Walter and Cassie Pough rolled 8-2 over the Colonels' Marti and Lindley.
Then the Cardinals doubles temas turned their attention to host Miami of Ohio. Velasquez and Rodrigues survived a challenge from Hannah Shteyn and Christine Guerrazzi of Miami 8-7 (7-4) after Willetts and Gerlach rolled 8-0 over Thurman and Badileanu. Walter and Pough fell 8-4 to Ana Rajkovic and Ramona Costea.
In singles the Cards faced Xavier. Cassie Pough beat Sydney Liggins of XU 2-6, 6-3, 6-4. Rodriguez won over Cristina Di L. orenzo 6-0, 6-4. Gerlach fell 6-2, 6-1 to Alex Brinker. Willets and Walter each dropped their matches as well.
In singles versus Miami, Pough won 6-4, 6-3 over Hannah Shteyn and Ellie Gerlach notched a victory over Christine Guerrazzi 3-6, 6-2, 6-4
