The University of Louisville's Katie Keller has been selected a 2014 Softball Senior CLASS Award Second Team All-American.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence - community, classroom, character and competition.
Keller, a second baseman from Livermore, Calif., becomes the first player in program history to earn CLASS Softball All-America honors. During her senior season, Kellers led the team with a .418 batting average, 51 runs, 19 doubles and drove in 37 runs this season. The four-time all-conference selection was named the 2014 American Athletic Conference tournament's Most Outstanding Player following the Cardinals' championship run. Keller was a 2013 All-America selection and finished her career ranked among UofL's top five in virtually every offensive category including career: runs, RBIs, hits, doubles, home runs, doubles, walks, sacrifice flies, slugging percentage, on-base percentage and games started and played.
The communications major was named to the Athletic Director's honor roll (3.0 or higher for the semester) four times and was a member of the Dean's List. Following her junior season, when she earned All-America honors on the field, she was also selected to the BIG EAST All-Academic Team.
An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
