
Women's Golf Begins NCAA Play on Thursday Afternoon

Louisville, Ky. - The Louisville women's golf team will travel to Tallahassee, Fla., to compete in the 2014 NCAA East Regional May 8-10 at the 6,257-yard, par 72 Southwood Golf Club, which will be hosted by Florida State.
Participating in the regional will be-- Duke (3), South Carolina (9), Stanford (4), Vanderbilt (13), Pepperdine (10), Central Florida (16), Virginia (23), Auburn (21), NC State (30), Florida State (29), Kentucky (24), Tulane (31), Baylor (39), East Tennessee State, Georgia, Campbell, East Carolina, Texas State, College of Charleston, Troy, Murray State, Seton Hall and Alabama State. The following individuals will also be competing - Lori Beth Adams (UNC-Wilmington), Ellen Ceresko (Penn State), Lacey Fears (Mercer), Kaew Preamchuen (Kennesaw State), Abby Newton (Mississippi) and Christina Vosters (Penn State). The teams are listed in seed order and the rankings in parentheses are from the Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index.
Louisville will tee off Thursday, May 8 at 12:15 p.m. in the first round off hole No. 1. Fans can follow the action live on the web at www.GolfStat.com.
The regional will be a three-day, 54-hole tournament with 18 holes played each day. The top eight teams and top two individuals (not on one of those eight teams) advance to the NCAA Championship to be played May 20-23 at the Tulsa Golf & Country Club in Tulsa, Okla.
NCAA EAST REGIONAL
The 2014 NCAA East Regional will be hosted by Florida State at the Southwood Golf Club in Tallahassee, Fla. The par-72, 7,172 yard course was named one of the Top 35 New Courses in America by Golf Magazine and One of the Top 50 Courses for women by Women in Golf Magazine. The regional will take place on May 8-10, with live scoring provided by golfstat.com.
CARDINALS IN THE NCAA
This is Louisville's seventh trip to the NCAA tournament in the team's 14-year history and first since 2011. Cardinals' strongest showing was in 2007, when the team advanced out of the regional round and to the NCAA Championship held in Daytona Beach, Fla. Louisville finished in 10th place to earn its top finish in school history.
NCAA EXPERIENCE
Senior Tara Lyons is the only player on Louisville's roster with NCAA experience, as she was one of five athletes to have participated in the 2011 NCAA East Regionals. This is the first trip to the NCAA tournament for Haas, Petrino, Restrepo, and Gramley.
