DENTON, Texas -The University of Louisville women's tennis team swept North Texas 4-0 in Friday night in Denton.

U of L moves to 8-2 for the season and now leads the series record 4-2 against the Mean Green.

'' This was a good win for us! The conditions were very tough to play in, the wind was blowing about 20 mph," said U of L head coach Mark Beckham." We really competed well and didn't let the conditions become an excuse. I'm happy with how we played and this is a win we can feel really good about.''

The North Texas duo of Dane Joubert and Agustina Valenzuela struck first as they defeated Louisville No. 3 pair of Olivia Boesing and Cassie Pough 8-6. The Cards buckled down with Becca Shine and Manuela Velasquez paired to win 8-6 at No. 1 and Julia Fellerhoff and Elle Stokes won 8-6 at No. 2 to post the doubles point.

U of L's No. 1 singles player Julia Fellerhoff beat Kseniya Bardabush 6-4, 6-4 and Manuela Velasquez took her match at No, 3 with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Kamila Galieva. Elle Stokes won at No. 4 with a 6-4, 6-3 score over Agustina Valenzuela.

Cards play the University of Denver tomorrow in Denton tomorrow at noon.
