Cardinals Earn the Third Seed in the 2014 NCAA Tournament

The No. 3-seeded Cardinals will face 14th-seed Idaho (25-8) in the first round of NCAA Tournament in Iowa City on Sunday, March 23 at approximately 5:30 p.m. ET in a game televised on ESPN. The games will be played at the Carver Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City, Iowa.
Louisville (30-4, 16-2 in the AAC) is making its 17th NCAA Tournament appearance and ninth appearance in the last 10 years. U of L enters the tournament ranked fourth in the nation after finishing in the American Athletic Conference and advancing to the Tournament finals. Last season Louisville made its second appearance in the NCAA Championship game in the last five years. The Cardinals have reached the NCAA Sweet 16 in four of the past six seasons.
The Cardinals are led by three first team all-conference performers. Senior guard Shoni Schimmel leads the team in scoring and assists with 17.0 points and assists with 3.8 per game. Junior Sara Hammond is second on the team in scoring and rebounding with 10.9 points 6.6 boards and 6.2 rebounds per game. Senior Asia Taylor leads the team on the boards with 7.3 rebounds per game. Taylor also ranks third on the team in scoring with 10.8 points per game.
