The University of Louisville women's tennis team took the doubles point and all but one singles match to defeat Rutgers 6-1 in an American Athletic Conference action Friday afternoon in the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.

Manuela Velasquez and Rebecca Shine struck first at No. 1 with a 8-3 win. The No. 2 pair of Julia Fellerhoff and Olivia Boesing clinched the point with a 8-3 win over Lindsay Balsamo and Mariam Zein.

Cardinal freshman Elle Stokes scored the first singles point with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Stefanie Balasa. Olivia Boesing scored next at No. 6 with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 6. Rebecca Shine clinched the match with a 6-1, 6-4. Julia Fellerhoff won at No. 1 with a score of 6-3, 7-5 over Vanessa Petrini. Manuela Velasquez wrapped up scoring with a 7-6, 6-0 win at No. 3.
