UofL Student-Athletes Take the It's On US Pledge
November 28, 2014 | General
As part of the conference wide initiative UofL student-athletes took the pledge and shared it via social media. It's On US is a cultural movement aimed at fundamentally shifting the way we think about sexual assault. During the week of November 17 through November 21, student-athletes around the Atlantic Coast Conference held pledge drives on their campuses, created public service announcements and shared links to the pledge to spread the word on the campaign.
UofL had 170 student-athletes sigh the pledge. Participating teams included: Cheer, Field Hockey, Lacrosse, Rowing, Women's Soccer, Men's and Women's Track and Field and Volleyball. The conference will hold another week of awareness in the spring.
It's On US invites everyone to step up and realize that the solution begins with individuals. It's a declaration that sexual assault is not only a crime committed by a perpetrator against a victim, but a societal problem in which all of us have a role to play. This pledge is a personal commitment to help keep women and men safe from sexual assault. It is a promise not to be a bystander to the problem, but to be a part of the solution.
