Sharing America's Marrow (SAM) is devoted to signing up as many potential donors to the bone marrow donor registry as possible by spreading the word across the country about the need, squashing the myths about the donation process, and turning regular people into heroes by giving them the opportunity to save a life.
By signing up, a person might be the match for one of the thousands of patients fighting blood cancer who need a life-saving bone marrow transplant. .
All it takes to join the bone marrow registry is five minutes to complete a painless cheek swab and a one-page consent form.
Participants in the bone marrow drive must be between the ages of 18-55, in general good health, and willing to donate to any patient in need. Most donors who are called to save the life of a patient in need donate through a procedure similar to donating blood plasma.
