2015 Louisville Softball Schedule ![]()
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville head softball coach Sandy Pearsall has released the 2015 schedule which features 14 home dates including one tournament at Ulmer Stadium. The Cardinals will face six teams which finished the 2014 season ranked in the top 25 and nine NCAA tournament teams.
"We are excited about our schedule as we enter our first season in the ACC which in itself will be very challenging," said Pearsall. "It's a tremendous conference with a lot of very talented teams from top to bottom. Our non-conference schedule is very difficult as we face several teams that are coming off of successful seasons last year, but it should prepare us well for the ACC."
The Cardinals will open the 2015 season Feb. 6-8 in Las Vegas at the UNLV Sportco Kick-Off Classic where they will face UC Davis, UNLV on Feb. 6. The following day UofL will face No. 14/15 and 2014 Super Regional participant Minnesota, Cal State Bakersfield. The Cards will wrap up their first weekend of play against No. 11/13 Washington who also advanced to the 2014 Super Regionals.
The following weekend, Louisville will travel to Orlando, Fla., for the Dot Richardson Tournament which will be held Feb. 13-15. The competition does not get any easier as the Cards face No. 18/19 and NCAA participant Missouri along with Missouri-Kansas City on day one of the tournament. Arkansas and Florida A&M - another 2014 NCAA tournament team - await the Cards on Saturday. UofL will close out the weekend against Middle Tennessee State.
UofL will return to its home state for the third weekend of February when the Cards play Kent State, Western Michigan and Eastern Kentucky in the Eastern Kentucky Invitational Feb. 21-22.
The Cardinals will close out February with their first ACC matchup with they travel to Atlanta for a three-game series with Georgia Tech Feb. 28-March 1.
After their inaugural ACC series, the Cardinals will host the Louisville Classic from March 6-8 in which they will play four games. Louisville hosts Indiana State on day one of the tournament before playing Massachusetts on the second day. The team closes out the Louisville Classic with games against Northwestern and Illinois State on Sunday.
Following the Louisville Classic, the Cards have mid-week matchups in Ohio against Miami (OH) on March 11 and Ohio State on March 18.
The Cardinals host Virginia for their first-ever ACC home series on March 14-15 and continue league play when they host North Carolina the following weekend at Ulmer Stadium. Louisville welcomes Indiana to Ulmer Stadium on March 25th before closing out March with a road series against Syracuse.
Louisville kicks off April as they welcome their in-state rival and 2014 Women's College World Series participant, Kentucky to Ulmer Stadium. Following Kentucky, the Cardinals hit the road to the state of Virginia to take on Virginia Tech in a three-game series April 3-4.
On April 8, the Cardinals face former BIG EAST and Conference USA foe No. 24/25 DePaul for a doubleheader in Chicago before hosting No. 7/7 Florida State in ACC action on April 11-12.
The following weekend, Louisville hits the road to Mississippi April 17-19. The team faces Kentucky in Lexington on April 21 before rounding out their home slate when they host Boston College in a three-game set April 25-26 and Western Kentucky on April 29. The Cardinals wrap up their inaugural ACC slate and conclude regular season with a road trip to Pittsburgh on May 2-3.
The ACC Championship will be held May 8-11 in Blacksburg, Va.
About UofL Softball: Louisville posted a 36-22 overall record, claimed the 2014 American Athletic Conference Championship and capped the season with the program's 11th straight NCAA appearance. The Cardinals return six starters and 13 letterwinners from the 2014 team including NFCA All-Central Regional selection Maryssa Becker and all-American Athletic Conference team members Whitney Arion and Kayla Soles. Eight newcomers will also take the field for the Cards this season.
The Cardinals are led by head coach Sandy Pearsall who is in her 16th season at the helm. She has led the Cardinals to six conference championships, 11 consecutive NCAA regional appearances after starting the program from scratch in 2000.
