Tennis Falls to Ranked Tulsa Squad

The University of Louisville womenm's tennis team fell to No. 25 Tulsa, 5-2 at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa.

Tulsa won all three doubles matches, as junior Maria Sant'Anna and freshman Renata Kuricova took care of business on Court 3, defeating Mandy Brown and Manuela Velasquez, 8-5. Junior Samantha Vickers and sophomore Isaura Enrique, ranked No. 19, earned a 8-6 win against No. 78 Julia Fellerhoff and Rebecca Shine. Completing the TU sweep was the tandem of senior Michelle Farley and freshman Saana Saarteinen, who beat Becky Bodine and Stefanie Villajuan, 8-5.

U of L got a point from Rebecca Shine who beat Isaura Enrique at No. 2 with a score of 6-3, 6-4. Manuela Velasquez outlasted Saana Saarteinen 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) at No. 3. But, Vickers, ranked No. 22, earned a 6-3, 6-1 triumph over Julia Fellerhoff on Court 1. Vickers has won 12 straight singles matches.

Sant'Anna gave TU a 3-0 lead after dispatching Brown, 7-5, 6-0 at No. 5 singles. Farley clinched the match for the Hurricane with a 6-2, 6-4 victory against Villajuan at No. 4 singles.

Garnering the final point for the Hurricane was Kuricova, who defeated Bodine, 6-1, 7-5 at the No. 6 position.
