
Fellerhoff and Shine Win AAC Tennis Players of the Month

After the conclusion of the fall tennis season, the American Athletic Conference recognized individuals from Louisville as Tennis Players of the Month for November. Luis Elizondo was recognized as Male Player of the Month and Julia Fellerhoff and Rebecca Shine were named Female Players of the Month.
The pair of Fellerhoff and Shine was recognized as the duo made a run to the finals of the ITA National Indoor Championship. The pair started the tournament with an upset of No. 4 seeded Breaunna Addison and Pippa Horn in an 8-5 victory. They then easily dispatched of Michigan's Sarah Lee and Ronit Yurovsky 8-1 to advance to the semifinals. In the semifinals the duo beat Georgia's Lauren Herring and Maho Kowase 7-6 (8-6), 6-3 for the right to play in the championship, ultimately falling in a three-set battle 6-4, 3-6, 5-7 in the finals against Georgia Tech's Kendal Woodard and Megan Kurey.
Elizondo had a singles record of 4-1 and a doubles record of 2-1 as the Cardinals concluded their fall season by hosting the Louisville Winter Invitational. The junior reeled off four straight wins over players from Illinois State, Purdue, Indiana, and teammate Jeffrey Brown to reach the `A' Division finals. Playing in doubles, Elizondo also reached the finals, with wins over duos from Morehead State and Kentucky to advance to the championship. He finished the fall with a team-best 9-2 singles record and compiled an 8-2 doubles mark.
