After the first month of fall competition, the American Athletic Conference announced the inaugural monthly awards for golf. Louisville sophomore Laura Restrepo earned Women's Player of the Month honors for the month of September.
Restrepo was dominant in the first month of competition, winning the first two tournaments of the season and also adding an eighth-place finish. Led by her two individual championships, the Cardinals claimed team titles at two events to open the season. At the IU Fall Kickoff, Restrepo carded a 70-69=139 (-5) to take the title by one stroke. The Cardinals won the two-round event handily, as Louisville was the only team to shoot under par.
In her next event, Restrepo again claimed individual medalist honors as Louisville hosted the Cardinal Cup. Restrepo shot a 67-70-75=212 (-4) to defeat teammate Emily Haas and Kansas' Yupaporn Kawinpakorn by one stroke. The Cardinals again cruised to a tournament title by a large margin.
In her final event during September, Restrepo shot a 70-72=142 to finish tied for eighth in a 92-golfer field as the Cardinals placed sixth as a squad at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate. Restrepo finished the month with a stellar 70.4 stroke average.
