
Five Softball Players Earn All-Region Honors

Five University of Louisville softball players earned National Fastpitch Coaches 2012 All Great Lakes Region honors. Tori Collins, Alicja Wolny, Kristin Austin and Taner Fowler earned first team honors, while Katie Keller was named to the second team.
A total of 263 players representing 129 different institutions comprise this season's regional teams, including first and second teams for each region. The all-region teams were chosen by NFCA member coaches from each region, and all the honorees will now be eligible for selection to one of three 2012 NFCA Division I All-American teams.
Austin, a senior right fielder from Hartsburg, Mo., leads the team with a .402 batting average, 44 runs and eight triples. The three-time All-BIG EAST selection also earned All-Region honors in 2009.
Collins a senior pitcher from Lafayette, Ind. carries a 24-1 record and a 1.25 ERA with 179 strikeouts in 167.1 innings. She earned All-BIG EAST Conference honors in 2010 and 2012.
Fowler, a sophomore designated player/utility player is hitting .372 with a team-best 12 home runs and 50 RBIs. She was a 2012 first team All-BIG EAST selection.
Wolny, a junior first baseman from El Dorado Hills, Calif., is second on the team with a .377 batting average, eight home runs and 37 RBI. She is a three-time All-BIG EAST pick.
Keller, a sophomore second baseman from Livermore, Calif., is batting .297 with 39 RBI, seven home runs and 37 runs scored. She earned All-BIG EAST conference honors in 2011 and 2012.
