Fellerhoff and Shine Earn All-BIG EAST Honors

The BIG EAST announced the 12-player All-BIG EAST team, which includes two U of L Cardinals as Julia Fellerhoff and Becca Shine earned honors.

Notre Dame's Shannon Mathews and De Paul's Jasmin Kling are among its ranks. Joining Mathews are Irish senior Kristy Frilling, a two-time BIG EAST Player of the Year, and sophomore Britney Sanders. USF has two athletes on the team; sophomore Loreto Alonso Martinez and junior Ecaterina Vasenina for the DePaul, Georgetown, Marquette, Rutgers, Seton Hall and Syracuse are also represented, with one player apiece.

"It's good to see that the other coaches in the conference have a lot of respect for Julia and Becca's games. This is a great reward for Julia, since she missed the beginning of the year with a broken foot. She worked really hard to get back and had a successful season. This will definitely motivate her for next year, to hopefully stay injury free and push for player of the year, she definitely has the ability to do it. Becca is unbelievable, she came to us from Augusta,Ga. and nobody really knew who she was but I thought she could be very good with time. She is way ahead of schedule, for her to have already been ranked nationally in singles and doubles and only be a sophomore is a quick progression. Now she has been named BIG EAST All-Conference. I can't say enough good things about her, she is special player for sure!"

U of L was seeded sixth in the BIG EAST Championship and finished tied for third after an upset of No. 3 Syracuse. The match with co-bronze finisher DePaul was not played due to inclimate weather.
