
Track and Field's Amashi Kendall Collects BIG EAST Award

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - For the second-straight week, University of Louisville women's track and field student-athlete Amashi Kendall was named the BIG EAST Female Field Athlete of the Week, league officials announced Tuesday.
Kendall has continued to improve her weight throw mark at the national level, reaching a personal-best distance of 20.83m/68-4.25 for a first-place finish in the event at the VT Elite Meet. The mark ranks first in the BIG EAST and fifth nationally, and it was her third victory of the season in the weight throw. She also had a top-five performance in the shot put, placing fourth behind a personal-best throw of 15.58m/51-1.50. The Owensboro, Ky., native ranks second in the league and 32nd nationally in the shot put.
A select group of Cardinals will travel to Bloomington, Ind., this weekend for the Hoosier Hills Invite from Feb. 10-11. The two-day event will take place on the campus of Indiana University at the Gladstein Fieldhouse. On Feb. 18-19, Louisville will embark on the BIG EAST Indoor Championships in New York, N.Y., at the New Balance Track & Field Center at the Armory.
