
Women's Basketball Hosts DePaul on Senior Day

Louisville women's basketball (19-8, 8-6) will host No. 21/18 DePaul (20-8, 8-6) for the final home game of the season on Saturday, Feb. 25 at 12:00 p.m. in the KFC Yum! Center. Saturday's contest will air on BIG EAST TV and shown locally on WHAS-TV (11.2 digital, Insight Channel 432 and Comcast Channel 207). The game is senior day for Cardinal senior Becky Burke, who will be honored before the game.
The Cardinals are coming off a 68-52 loss against No. 3 Notre Dame on Monday afternoon. The Cardinals are led by the backcourt duo of senior Becky Burke and sophomore Shoni Schimmel. Schimmel leads the team in scoring and assists with 14.1 points and 4.4 assists per game. Burke is second in scoring with 11.3 points per game. Freshman guard Bria Smith rounds out the top scorers with 9.4 points per game. Redshirt freshman Shawnta' Dyer leads the team on the boards with 4.7 rebounds per game.
DePaul is coming off an 81-65 home loss against Syracuse on Tuesday night. The Blue Demons are 7-4 on the road this season and 3-4 on the road in conference play. Junior guard Anna Martin leads DePaul in scoring with 18.5 points per game. Martin leads the team with 54 made three-pointers, connecting on 40.6 percent from long range. Sophomore Jasmine Penny ranks second on the team in scoring with 11.4 points per game. She leads the team from the field connecting on 58.3 percent. Freshman guard Brittany Hrynko rounds out the top scorers with 11.3 points per game while shooting 33.8 percent from long range. Junior Katherine Harry leads the team on the boards with 9.3 rebounds per game.
DePaul holds a slight 15-13 lead in the series against the Cardinals. Louisville is 8-4 against the Blue Demons at home.
