LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Michael Edwards registered a first-place finish in the high jump to lead the University of Louisville track and field teams on Friday evening at Hoosier Hills at the Gladstein Fieldhouse on the campus of Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind.
Edwards cleared seven feet for the third time this season, winning his third competition in the high jump after leaping over 2.16m/7-1. Currently, his season-opening mark of 2.20m/7-2.50 ranks 14th nationally. Teammate Taylor Caldwell placed third in the high jump, clearing 2.06m/6-9.
On the women's side, Michelle Theophille cleared 1.77m/5-9.75 in the high jump to place second overall and first among collegians. Megan Schubert, who followed with a third-place showing, jumped over the bar at 1.74m/5-8.50.
Next on the slate for the Cardinals is the BIG EAST Indoor Championships in New York, N.Y., from Feb. 18-19. The two-day meet will be held at the New Balance Track & Field Center at the Armory.
