
Women's Basketball Hosts Syracuse For the Pink Game

Louisville, Ky. - Louisville women's basketball (17-7, 6-5) will host Syracuse (15-10, 4-7) on Saturday, Feb. 11 for the annual Pink Game at the KFC Yum! Center at 2:00 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on WHAS-TV (11.2, and Insight 432) with Drew Deener and Kent Spencer calling the action.
The Cardinals are coming off a 56-46 defeat at home against No. 3 Connecticut. Three players are averaging double figures with sophomore Shoni Schimmel leading the team with 14.0 points per game while leading the team with 4.2 assists per game. Senior Becky Burke is second with 10.7 points per game while freshman Bria Smith is averaging 10.0 points per game. Shawnta' Dyer leads the team on the boards with 4.6 rebounds per game.
Syracuse is coming off a 74-55 loss against No. 2 Notre Dame on Tuesday night. Senior forward Iasia Hemmingway leads Syracuse in scoring with 16.5 points per game. Hemingway leads the team 146 foul shots, connecting on 77.2 percent from the line. Junior center Kayla Alexander ranks second on the team in scoring with 14.9 points per game while ranking second on the team in rebounding with 7.2 per game. Junior guard Carmen Tyson-Thomas ranks third on the team in scoring with 10.8 points per game while leading the team on the boards with 7.6 rebounds per game.
The series is tied at 4-4 between the Cards and Orange. Louisville owns a 3-1 record against the Orange at home.
Saturday's contest will air on the U of L Radio Network (790 AM) with Matt Andrews and Adrienne Johnson announcing. All fans are encouraged to wear pink to the game.
Before the game all fans will be allowed to create a link by writing down the name of someone they know that has suffered from breast cancer. Breast cancer survivors will receive two free tickets to the game by calling 852-7254. All breast cancer survivors in attendance at the game will be honored at halftime. They should meet behind Section 101 with 10 min left in the first half to receive a wrist band and given more details about the halftime festivities.
