
Softball Wraps Up Fall Season Saturday

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville softball team will wrap up the fall season on Saturday when they play host to Bellarmine at 12 p.m. and Tennessee State at 2:30 p.m. Admission is free.
The Cardinals opened the fall season with three wins last weekend, defeating Bellarmine 10-0, Eastern Kentucky 1-0 and Murray State 7-1. Sophomore Whitney Arion led the team with an .875 batting average (7 for 8) with two doubles, a home run, six RBIs and three runs. Senior Alicja Wolny batted .500 (5 for 10) with three RBIs.
Junior Caralisa Connell did not allow a run, allowed only one hit and stuck out 11 in 10.0 innings and picked up two wins. Junior Rachel LeCoq surrendered one earned run and struck out seven in 10.0 innings and registered one win.
U of L is coming off of a program-best season in which they posted a 55-5 overall record, won the BIG EAST regular season and tournament titles and made their ninth straight NCAA regional appearance. The Cards return seven starters and 12 letterwinners including All-American Taner Fowler and fellow all-conference selections Alicja Wolny, Katie Keller, Whitney Arion, Caralisa Connell, Jennifer Esteban and Jordan Trimble.
Head Coach Sandy Pearsall is in her 14th season at the helm after starting the program in 2000. She has compiled a 506-261 record including five conference titles and nine straight NCAA appearances. She, Associate Head Coach Carol Bruggeman and Assistant Coach Courtney Scott were named Great Lakes Region Coaching Staff of the Year and BIG EAST Coaching Staff of the Year in 2012.

Fans are encouraged to park in the Floyd Street Parking Garage directly across from Cardinal Park for $5 per car for events at Cardinal Park, Trager Stadium, Ulmer Stadium, Cardinal Arena and Wright Natatorium.
