
Field Hockey Ready for Senior Weekend

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville field hockey team will return to Trager Stadium for the final two home games of the regular season. The Cardinals will honor seniors Erin Conrad, Haley Jurich, Natasha Leickly and Amber Thomas in their final home weekend on Saturday, Oct. 20 when the Cards face BIG EAST foe Villanova at 12 p.m. The team will play its regular season home finale on Monday against No. 21 Ohio State at 4 p.m. Admission is free to both games.
Louisville and Villanova are currently tied for fifth in BIG EAST standings. The winner of Saturday's game will boost its chances to make the conference tournament which consists of the top four teams in the league and will be held November 2 and 4 at Louisville's Trager Stadium.
About Louisville
Louisville enters the weekend with a 9-7 overall record and a 1-3 mark in BIG EAST conference play. Sophomore Becca Maddock leads the team with 19 points (8G, 3A). Senior Amber Thomas stands at second with with 15 points (7G, 1A).
Up Last
The Cards are coming off of a 2-1 win over No. 22 Wake Forest last Sunday. In that game, senior Amber tied the contest at 1-1 and junior Michelle Amon notched the game-winner while senior Erin Conrad tied a career-high with 11 saves. Prior to that, Louisville fell 3-1 at Rutgers in a BIG EAST Conference contest.

Villanova, Oct. 20 - Trager Stadium, 12 p.m.
Series Record: Louisville leads 6-2
Last Meeting: Oct. 15, 2012 - Villanova won 2-1 at Villanova - Olivia Maggati scored a pair of goals to give the Wildcats a 2-0 lead. Amber Thomas cut the lead to 2-1 late in the second half.
Scouting the Wildcats: Villanova (6-9) is coming off of a 1-0 loss to BIG EAST foe Providence last Saturday. The Wildcats are led by Leah High's 16 points (7G, 2A). Jessica Swoboda follows with 12 points (4G, 4A). Alex Diekmann carries a 3.32 goals-against average with one shutout on the season.
Ohio State, Oct. 22 - Trager Stadium, 4 p.m.
Series Record: Ohio State leads 16-5 - Fans are encouraged to wear black; Free Cardinal sunglasses will be given out
Last Meeting: Oct. 4, 2011 - Ohio State won 2-1 in Columbus. Berta Queralt and Danica Deckard gave the Buckeyes a 2-0 lead. Elizabeth Vance put the Cards on the board in the second half.
Scouting the Buckeyes: Ohio State enters the weekend with a 9-6 overall record prior to their home finale against No. 7 Penn State on Friday. The Buckeyes are coming off of a 3-1 loss to Michigan last Sunday. Danica Deckard leads the team with 31 points (13G, 5A). Berta Queralt follows with 21 points (9G, 3A). Emma Voelker carries a 1.47 goals-against average with three shutouts on the season.
Note: The last three meetings between the teams have been decided by one goal with two of the last three games going into at least one overtime.
Conrad Named to BIG EAST Honor Roll
Senior Goalkeeper Erin Conrad posted 13 saves on the weekend, including tying a career-high with 11 saves in the 2-1 upset of No. 22 Wake Forest.

U of L will wrap up the regular season on the road when the Cards travel to Providence for its BIG EAST conference game. The league tournament will take place Nov. 2 and 4 at Trager Stadium.
