
Women's Basketball Travels to St. John's

Riding a six-game winning streak, Louisville women's basketball (13-2, 2-0) will travel Queens, N.Y., to face St. John's (9-6, 1-1) on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at Carnesecca Arena. The game will be broadcast live on ESPNU.
The Cardinals are 13-2 on the season after defeating Marquette 70-53 at home on Tuesday night. Three players are averaging double figures with sophomore Shoni Schimmel leading the team with 14.2 points per game while leading the team with 4.9 assists per game. Senior Becky Burke is second with 11.9 points per game while freshman Bria Smith is averaging 11.1 points per game. Cierra Warren leads the team on the boards with 5.0 rebounds per game.
The Red Storm is riding a two game winning streak into Sunday's game after defeating Providence 57-41 on Wednesday night. St. John's has an impressive 8-1 record at home this season. Their only loss was to St. Bonaventure (64-58) in the season opener. Junior guard Eugeneia McPherson is averaging a team-high 14.3 points in large part to her team leading 19 3-pointers (shooting .413 from long range). Junior guard Shenneika Smith has started in 14 games and averages 12.5 points while shooting .414 from the field. Junior point guard Nadirah McKenith has started in 12 games and averages 11.9 points and a team leading 4.9 assists per game.
Louisville holds a 6-2 advantage in the series over St. John's. Louisville owns a 1-2 record on the road against St. John's. The Cardinals have won four of the last five against the Red Storm.
