Bria Smith Named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week

Louisville, Ky. - Louisville freshman Bria Smith was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week the league office announced on Monday, Jan. 30. It is the second honor this season for Smith. She was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week on Jan. 10.
Smith had 10 points and team-high 10 rebounds to help the Cardinals in a 62-58 win against Villanova on Saturday. She added a game-high three steals, an assist and a block in the win. It was Smith's first career double-double. Smith, who has played in all 21 games for the Cardinals in her rookie campaign, is averaging 11.0 points per game (third among active players) and 4.5 rebounds per game this season.
Smith and the Cardinals will travel to DePaul on Tuesday, Jan. 31.
