
Women's Basketball Hosts Villanova Saturday Afternoon

Louisville women's basketball (16-4, 5-2) will host Villanova (13-7, 3-4) at the KFC Yum! Center on Saturday, Jan. 28 at 2:00 p.m. The Cardinals have won 11 consecutive games at home, improving to 22-2 all-time in the arena. The game will be broadcast live on WHAS-TV (11.2, and Insight 432).
The Cardinals are coming off a 64-61 win at No. 17 Georgetown on Sunday. Three players are averaging double figures with sophomore Shoni Schimmel leading the team with 13.3 points per game while leading the team with 4.7 assists per game. Senior Becky Burke is second with 12.0 points per game while freshman Bria Smith is averaging 11.1 points per game. Cierra Warren leads the team on the boards with 4.8 rebounds per game.
Villanova is coming off a 62-53 win over Cincinnati on Tuesday night. The Wildcats own a 6-5 record on the road this season. Junior forward Laura Sweeney leads the Wildcats in scoring and rebounding with 15.0 points per game and 7.9 boards per game. She also leads the team in blocks (24) and steals (34). Senior guard Rachel Roberts ranks second on the team in scoring with 9.4 points per game while shooting 39 percent from long range. Freshman forward Lauren Buford ranks third on the team in scoring with 8.2 points per game. She leads the team in three-pointers made with 36, connecting on 37 percent from behind the arc.
Louisville leads the series 7-0 against Villanova. The Cardinals are 3-0 against the Wildcats at home.
