
No. 15/16 Women's Basketball Travels to Rutgers

Louisville women's basketball (14-3, 3-1) will look to for its second BIG EAST road win of the season at No. 8/9 Rutgers (14-2, 3-0) on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in the Louis Brown Athletic Center. Sunday's contest will air on the U of L Radio Network (WKJK 1080 AM) with Matt Andrews and Adrienne Johnson announcing. The game will be televised in New Jersey on Verizon FiOS.
The Cardinals are 14-3 on the season after coming from behind to defeat USF 63-57 on Wednesday night at the KFC Yum! Center. Three players are averaging double figures with sophomore Shoni Schimmel leading the team with 13.9 points per game while leading the team with 4.7 assists per game. Senior Becky Burke is second with 12.1 points per game while freshman Bria Smith is averaging 11.1 points per game. Cierra Warren leads the team on the boards with 5.0 rebounds per game.
Rutgers enters the game on a five game winning streak, including three straight BIG EAST contest for a 3-0 conference record. The Scarlet Knights defeated Pittsburgh 63-39 on Tuesday night. Rutgers owns an 8-1 record at home this season with the only loss against No. 6 Tennessee (67-61). Senior guard April Sykes is averaging a team-high 14.4 points with a team leading 25 three-pointers (shooting .333 from long range). Senior guard Khadijah Rushdan has started in all 16 games and averages 12.3 points in large part to her team leading 46 free throws made. Junior forward Monique Oliver rounds out the top scorers, averaging 11.8 points per game and leads the team in rebounding with 8.2 boards per game. .
Louisville leads the series 5-3 against Rutgers. The Cardinals have never defeated the Scarlet Knights on their home court for an 0-3 record. Louisville has won four of the last five meetings with Rutgers.
