Shine Advances to Draw A Singles Championship at Spartan Invitational

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Becca Shine advanced to the finals of the A Draw at the prestigious Michigan State Spartan Invitational by beating Michelle Sulahian of Michigan 6-4, 6-2, 6-4 and Olga Shkundina of Akron 2-6, 6-2, 6-1. She will face Michigan's Mimi Nguyen in the finals on Sunday.
Shine paired with Gabi Duncan to win the Draw B Doubles beating Frederique Sunstrom and Raquel Vescovi of IPFW 8-0 before downing Olga Chernova and Jennifer Yen of Michigan State 8-2. The pair squared off against Jana Knoppe and Linda Hricistova of Illinois-Chicago in a tightly fought 9-8 (10-8) battle for the title.
Sarah Miller advanced to the semi-finals of the Flight B singles beating Gillian Hush of Marquette 6-7, 6-1, 6-1, and Nicole Herzog of Michigan State 6-2, 6-4 before falling to Kristen Dodge of Michigan 5-7, 6-1, 6-3.
