
Women's Golf Finishes Ninth at Ptarmigan Ram Classic

Fort Collins, Colo. - The Louisville women's golf team finished ninth in the Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic on Tuesday afternoon at the Ptarmigan Country Club in Fort Collins, Colo. The Cardinals shot a 312 in the final round to finish ninth with a score of 910. UC Davis held on to the lead to win the tournament with a score of 872. Illinois and Colorado finished tied for second with a score of 875. Texas Tech finished fourth with a score of 880.
Junior Anna-Karin Ljungstrom finished tied at 44th with a score of 228 to lead the Cardinals. Ljungstrom shot a 77 in the final round, while shooting par on 13 holes and finishing with five bogeys. Demi Runas of UC Davis took medalist honors with a score of 211.
Senior Maria Castellanos finished tied for 49th with a score of 229. Castellanos shot a 79 in the final round but struggled on four of the last six holes. Katie Petrino finished tied at 52nd with a score of 230. Petrino shot a 78 in the final round. While getting off to a rough start, the redshirt freshman rebounded well with two birdies on the final holes.
Tara Lyons, Emily Haas and Sara Karlsson finished tied for 56th with a score of 232. Lyons shot a 78 in the final round. She struggled on the 17th hole with a double bogey but rebounded with a one birdie and one bogey on the final eight holes. Haas shot an 81 in the final round. She finished the day with seven bogeys and one double bogey. Karlsson competed as an individual and shot a 72 in the final round. She played solid all day, finishing with six birdies, four bogeys and one double bogey.
Maike Klein also played as an individual, finishing tied at 88th with a score of 245. Klein shot an 81 in the final round, finishing the day with nine bogeys.
The Cardinals will be back in action on Sept. 19-20 as they host the Wild Eggs Cardinal Cup at the Cardinal Club in Simpsonville, Ky.
