LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville softball team will be hosting its annual Winter Holiday Softball Camp Sunday, January 15, 2012 at the Trager Center.
The Cardinal coaching staff and players will be on hand to provide instruction on fundamental skills and strategy in both the offensive and defensive aspects of the game. The camp will consist of three sessions filled with up to 70 players grouped by age and skill. Each individual will get the opportunity to choose which position she wants focus on during the defensive segment - which will include pitching and catching. During the offensive rotation, the players will learn how to become power hitters as well develop their short game. Base-running techniques and drills will also be included throughout the camp.
Players are encouraged bring their own gloves, bats, helmets and batting gloves and should wear comfortable workout clothing and tennis shoes and/or cleats. Catchers must bring their own gear.

Winter Camp Information

Sessions
Session 1 8:00am-10:30am 8-12 yr. olds Cost: $60
Session 2 11:30am-2:30pm 13-18 yr. olds Cost: $70
Session 3 3:30pm-6:30pm 13-18 yr. olds Cost: $70
Note: Only one session per athlete. The same skills will be taught in sessions 2 & 3. Sessions are held to 70 players per session and sessions fill quickly. Players will be divided into groups based on age and skill level. Camp fee includes camp T-shirt.
DEFENSE: Players will have the opportunity to learn defensive fundamentals and choose a defensive position to improve upon including pitching and catching.
OFFENSE: Players will learn how to hit with power and work on all aspects of the short game. Base-running techniques and drills will also be taught at the clinic.
EQUIPMENT NEEDED: Players must wear comfortable workout clothing and bring a glove, tennis shoes and/or cleats. It would also be helpful to bring your own bat, helmet, and batting gloves. If you are a catcher, bring your own catching gear.
DEADLINE: Application and payment due Jan. 9. After Jan. 9, there is a $25 late fee.
CHECK-IN: registration will open 1 hour prior to camp start time.
CAMP STAFF
The camp staff is under the direction of Louisville head coach Sandy Pearsall and associate head coach Carol Bruggeman. The camp will consist of the Louisville softball coaching staff, current and graduated Louisville softball players and additional experienced coaches.
PLAYING FACILITIES
The clinic will be held at the Trager Center (indoor football field house), adjacent to Papa John's Cardinal Football Stadium, located at 2800 South Floyd Street.
MEDICAL STAFF INFORMATION
This clinic will have a certified athletic trainer on site.
