Louisville, Ky. - The 2011-12 Louisville women's basketball non-conference schedule features games against Texas A&M, Florida State, Xavier and Kentucky. The Cardinals will tip off the season on Nov. 13 at Missouri State before facing the 2011 NCAA champions, Texas A&M, on Nov. 15 in College Station. The slate also features new series against state schools Eastern Kentucky and Murray State.
Seven of the Cardinals' 13 non-conference opponents competed in post-season tournaments last season, including six in the NCAA Tournament (Texas A&M, the 2011 NCAA Champion, Florida State, Xavier, Kentucky, Gardner-Webb, UT Martin).
"We are excited about the new home and home series against Texas A&M and Florida State for this season," said Louisville Head Coach Jeff Walz. "We are also excited to add two in state schools in Eastern Kentucky and Murray State this season. This is the toughest noncon-ference road schedule we have had in my five years at Louisville. Playing Texas A&M, Florida State and Kentucky on the road will give us a lot of opportunities to improve with each game and prepare for the BIG EAST schedule."
The Cardinals will face their first outside competition in an exhibition game against Lindsey Wilson on Oct. 30 in the KFC Yum! Center. The regular season will tip off on Nov. 13 as the Cards host Missouri State, the final warm up before they go on the road against the national champions on Nov. 15.
The Cardinals will then head to Eastern Kentucky for a game on Nov. 17. Louisville will continue the home slate with a rematch of last season's NCAA second round game against Xavier on Nov. 20 in the KFC Yum! Center at 2:00 p.m. The Cards will host Austin Peay on Nov. 22 before heading out for a two-game road stint.
Louisville will play back-to-back games at Florida State on Nov. 25 and at Florida A&M on Nov. 26. The Cards will host Murray State on Nov. 29 at 7:00 p.m. They will play the annual Battle of the Bluegrass against Kentucky on Dec. 4 in Lexington.
The Cardinals will host Gardner-Webb on Dec. 10 before heading to the west coast for a two games. Louisville will play at Portland on Dec. 17 and at Washington State on Dec. 19. The Cardinals will wrap up the non-conference slate on Dec. 28 as they host UT Martin at noon in the KFC Yum! Center.
The BIG EAST Conference schedule will be release at a later date.
