
Track and Field's Rachel Gehret Earns Academic Honor

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville track and field athlete Rachel Gehret has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District women's track and field second team, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced Thursday.
An exercise science major, with a concentration in physical education for teacher preparation and school health education, Gehret was one of 21 District IV student-athletes to earn the honor. The district is made up of student-athletes in the states of Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee and Alabama.
Gehret exceeds the minimum-required 3.30 grade-point average, boasting a 3.72 cumulative GPA. The Altoona, Pa., native won her second career BIG EAST outdoor high jump title this season, and she ranks in the top-50 nationally in all three jumps disciplines. After tying for first in the high jump (1.81m/5-11.25) at the NCAA East Preliminary Rounds, Gehret earned a trip to compete at the NCAA Track and Field Outdoor Championships on June 9 in Des Moines, Iowa, at Drake Stadium on the campus of Drake University.
