
Women's Golf Finishes 12th at the NCAA East Regional

Daytona Beach, Fla. - The University of Louisville women's golf team shot a 296 in the final round of the NCAA East Regional on Saturday afternoon at the LPGA International Golf Course in Daytona Beach, Fla. The Cardinals moved up two spots to finish 12th with a score of 899. Third ranked Alabama won the regional with a score of 866 while North Carolina finished second with a score of 868 and Arizona State finished third with a score of 871.
Senior Sara-Maude Juneau shot a 71 on the final day to finish tied at 20th with a score of 220. Juneau finished in the Top 20 of all her tournaments this season with today's finish. She made the turn at even par with two birdies and two bogeys. She finished the back nine at one under with a birdie on hole 14. Alabama's Stephanie Meadow took medalist honors with a score of 207.
Senior Laura Anderson shot a 72 in the final round and moved up 18 spots to finish tied at 31st with a score of 222. Anderson played a solid game making the turn at even par with a birdie and a bogey. She continued the momentum on the back nine with a birdie and a bogey.
Sophomore Anna-Karin Ljungstrom rebounded from the second round, shooting a 74 in the final round to finish tied at 64th with a score of 229. Ljungstrom made the turn at one under with a birdie on the seventh hole. She finished the back nine with three bogeys.
Junior Maria Castellanos shot a 79 in the final round and finished tied at 78th with a score of 231. Castellanos made the turn at four over and finished the back nine at three over. Freshman Tara Lyons shot an 84 in the final round and finished tied at 110th with a score of 240.
The top eight teams and top two individuals advanced to the NCAA Championship on May 18-21 at the Traditions Club in Bryan, Texas. Vanderbilt defeated Florida State in a playoff for the 8th and final spot.
