
Track and Field Completes Day One at Penn Relays

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville track and field teams completed day one of the Penn Relays on Thursday evening at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, Pa.
Members of the women's jumps group were the only athletes in action, with Megan Schubert leading the way following a second-place finish in the women's high jump. Schubert cleared 1.72m/5-7.75 for the runner-up finish, while Maggie Gilbertson, who also competed in the event, placed 12th after leaping over 1.64m/5-4.5.
Rachel Gehret competed in the championship division of the long jump. The Altoona, Pa., native recorded a mark of 6.02m/19-9 to place sixth in the event. Margret Harris (5.41m/17-9) and Kim Cardeiro (5.25m/17-2.75) competed in the Eastern section, registering finishes of 20th and 24th, respectively.
The only other Cardinals in action on Thursday were Chelsea Lucas and Andrea Sabbatine, each of whom participated in the pole vault. Lucas tied for 15th, clearing 3.65m/11-11.75, and Sabbatine vaulted over 3.50m/11-5.75 to finish 18th.
