Track and Field Splits Squads This Weekend

Pepsi Florida Relays Live Results | Mike Poehlein Live Results
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville track and field teams will split squads this weekend, with part of the team traveling south to the Pepsi Florida Relays in Gainesville, Fla., and the rest of the squad heading to West Lafayette, Ind., for the Purdue Mike Poehlein Invitational.
Action in Gainesville at Percy Beard Track at James G. Pressly Stadium starts on Friday, April 1, at 2 p.m., and carries on through Saturday, April 2. Competition for the Cardinals in West Lafayette at Rankin Track and Field begins on Saturday at noon. Live results for both meets can be found on DeltaTiming.com.
Along with Rachel Gehret, the throws group will be participating in the 67th edition of the Florida Relays. Khadija Abdullah and Amashi Kendall, who will each be competing in two events, begin action on Friday at 2 p.m. in the discus. Cardinal athletes will be competing in five other events in the day, including Rachel Gehret, who will take part in the high jump at 5:30 p.m.
The Cardinals return to action on Saturday at 12:30 p.m., with Weston Banks competing in the discus. He closes the two-day event for the Cardinals at 5 p.m. in the shot put.
The majority of the squad will compete at seventh-annual running of the Mike Poehlein Invitational in a full day of events.
To open competition, Paige Dooley and Cassie Martin will run in the 3,000m steeplechase at noon, followed by the women's 4x100m relay at 1 p.m. The men begin competition in the 1,500m at 1:45 p.m., with five Cardinals - Chris Wolfe, Tyler Byrne, Gordon Dooley, Ryan Eaton and Mattias Wolter - in the event.
Saravia Richardson returns to action for her first race of the outdoor season, as she will compete in the 400m at 2:15 p.m., with Hadassah Bruno, a transfer from Barton Community College. Bruno was part of the junior college national champion indoor 4x400 team in 2010 and placed fourth as high as fourth in the 400m at the junior college outdoor championships that year.
On the men's side, Sirron Warren will make his outdoor season debut, as he is set to compete in the 800m at 3:30 p.m.
Louisville will complete the day, with the women's 4x400m relay at 5:20 p.m. and the men's race in the same event at 5:30 p.m.
