Louisville head coach Karen Ferguson-Dayes
"First of all, congratulations to Florida State. They're a quality team. We wish them well in the rest of their postseason. The end of the season is always tough. It's bittersweet because it's bitter to lose, but it can't overshadow how amazing this season was."
"I'm happy with the second half performance. I think if we have a regret as a team as a program it's that we waited 45 minutes to play. In the first half, really, there wasn't any tempo with regard to how we were playing. I think we had chances. We knew exactly what they were going to do. We were prepared for it, but we just didn't have the energy and enthusiasm that usually defines our program. I think we had that in the second half, but obviously the game is 90 minutes, so if we could learn a lesson, that`s the lesson for sure that we've learned."
(On the success of the team) "I think the success of this team, for sure, is defined by these two right here (Jennifer Jones & Kaitie McDonald). They're fantastic captains in what they do off the field, on the field, what they say, how they say it; just their character. I think that that's what we embody and that's what's so special about us. We may not have the five or six All-Americans, but our team is certainly an All-American team. Probably, what I'm going to miss the most is training this group."
Louisville senior midfielder Jennifer Jones
"I think the first half we didn't really get as many opportunities that we'd like. But you can see we got 10 shots the second half, so we definitely picked it up there. We were pressing them for a while hoping for that goal, but we just couldn't get one."
"It's a bittersweet way to go out, but it's been the most success we've had over four years, so it's definitely been a lot of fun and a good ride. I mean bringing home the first Big East National Division Championship for our school has been great, and it's been a great experience with everyone."
Louisville senior defender Kaitie McDonald
"We knew they were going to possess the ball a lot, and our key was just to stay patient. I think we did a good job of it and we actually turned them over a good bit of times in the first half. We just couldn't connect up top. In the second half, for sure we got going up top. Our back line did a great job possessing the ball, playing great balls in. Unfortunately, we just couldn't put any in the goal."
"We had a great season. I couldn't have asked for a better team, for a better season for my senior year. We started off rough, a couple losses, but I think what helped us as we learned from those early on and just helped us become a better team and also just the belief we had in one another. I don't think we could've gone on the run and done as well as we did this year without supporting each other. That's been the main thing, is just how united this team has been. When it comes down to it, I'd rather be on a team that has this great of chemistry than a team that has terrible chemistry and has more success. This is just all I could've asked for."
