The University of Louisville took the doubles point and then ran the table in all six singles matches to beat intrastate rival Morehead State 7-0 in the second match of the day for the Cardinals Sunday evening at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
"It was a very good weekend. We were able to get three wins and only dropped one set," said U of L coach Mark Beckham. "We showed a lot of focus and were very excited about getting the dual season started. We won convincingly on paper but we steadily improved in each match. We definitely played our best match against a very aggressive MSU team."
Mandy Brown and Julia Fellerhoff rolled 8-1 at the No. 1 doubles spot and Becca Shine and Sarah Miller clinched the doubles point with an 8-1 win at No. 3.
In singles, Amelia Harris clinched the match with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Lauren Delaney at No. 6. Julia Fellerhoff met little resistance at No. 1, winning 6-1, 6-1 over Alix Young. Mandy Brown won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 and Shine dispatched Madeleinne Antero 6-1, 6-3. Kaysara Mandry beat Jessics Montemayor 6-2, 6-2 and Sonia Bokhari cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 5.
The Cardinals travel to Paducah on Jan. 28 to meat Murray State and will also face Southern Illinois while they are there.
