Hartford, Conn. - Hey Cardinal fans! Sorry I've been missing for a while but studying got in the way and now I'm back to catch you up! It's the night before the Connecticut game and we are prepared to battle. We are coming off a tough loss to Notre Dame but were focused on getting better and returning to the top of the Big East Conference.
The team has been busy bonding off the court to make us better in the games. A new thing coach has challenged us with is spending time together without our cell phones. For many of us, including myself, it was hard to let go of the technology that we can't live without. After we tried it for the first time we loved it! We realized how much more attention we are able to give each other with the absence of our phones and now it's almost done by habit.
Some of our fun bonding events have included a New Year's Eve party, movie nights, team dinners, watch parties, and of course Wii "Just Dance 2" competitions. Our New Year's Eve party was catered by Monique's family. Her mom and grandmother are the best cooks around! We cheered our men against Kentucky, ate, played a few games, and brought the New Year in together.
Our team loves movies, especially scary movies. We all get together in the TV room, rent a RedBox movie and hang out. Our latest movie was Salt. One of the scariest movies I've seen in a while. I must say if it wasn't for my teammate's sense of humor, I probably would have had nightmares for at least a week. The new season of our favorite TV show "The Game" has started and we have watch parties. We stop whatever we're doing and get together on every new episode. We usually miss half the show because of the laughter and talking during it but it's just as entertaining in my book.
We've had lots of fun this season discovering each other's hidden talents. The Wii game "Just Dance 2" has been our newest addition to our list of talents. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the game, it basically shows somebody on the screen dancing to a variety of songs while you basically imitate what they are doing.
This is almost as good of a workout as practice. The better you dance the more points you receive. With such a competitive team, this can get very serious. We play for hours dripping in sweat. Everyone on the team steps outside their comfort zone and shows off their dance moves. Surprisingly to us and I'm sure all of you as well, the best dancers are by far Becky Burke and Shoni Schimmel. They have the best dance moves on the team, including a mean robot!
Alright headed to bed to get some good rest for the Connecticut game! Wish us luck! Go Cards!
