
Women's Tennis Heads to Hokie Invitational

The Louisville women's tennis team is getting ready to kick off the weekend at the 17th annual Hokie Fall Invitational at Virginia Tech beginning Oct. 1 in Blacksburg, Virginia. The Cards hope to improve upon their strong showing from last week at the Michigan State Invitational which included doubles finals winners Sarah Miller and Becca Shine.
The Cards had a good showing last week against the Spartans' field with several members reaching the semi-finals and finals. Along with Miller and Shine, Mandy Brown and Julia Fellerhoff reached the finals in doubles play. In singles action, Fellerhoff and Amelia Harris both reached the finals last week and will try to better their results.
This year's event will have 12 teams which include James Madison, UNC-Wilmington, East Tennessee State, Marshall, Winthrop, Davidson, William and Mary, Radford, UM-Baltimore County, Liberty, Virginia Tech , and Louisville. There will be six 16 player singles draws, one 8 player singles draw and three 16 team doubles brackets. Play will begin each day at 9 a.m. On Friday, there will be one round of doubles followed by two rounds of singles, Saturday will have two rounds of doubles followed by one round of singles and all finals will be played Sunday at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.
