
Roth Named Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-American

University of Louisville catcher Melissa Roth earned 2010 Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-America Second team honors. She also earned the honor last season and becomes the first two-time All-American in program history.
In her senior season, Roth led the Cards with a .389 average, 16 home runs, 59 runs and 48 RBI. She was also third on the team with 15 stolen bases. In 2010, she was a first team NFCA All-Great Lakes Region first team member, an All-BIG EAST Conference and tournament selection, a two-time league Player of the Week and a top 25 finalist for the ASA Player of the Year. She was also selected as an alternate on the USA national team and was the third overall pick in the National Professional Fastpitch Association senior draft.
Roth leaves the Cardinals as the most decorated player in program history. She is a two-time All-American, a two-time All-Great Lakes Region team member, a three-time All-BIG EAST selection, the 2009 BIG EAST Player of the Year and is the only Louisville player to be selected for the USA Softball program. The Long Beach, Calif., native started every game at Louisville, finishing second on the school's career list with 235 games started and played. Additionally, Roth owns the career records for batting average (.379), runs (204), doubles (68), hit by pitch (77), slugging percentage (.665), on-base percentage (.503).
