
Bemis Named BIG EAST Softball Player of the Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - - University of Louisville third baseman Chelsea Bemis earned her second BIG EAST Softball Player of the Week honor on May 10 following the league's final week of regular season play.
Bemis posted a .625 batting average on the week (5-for-8) with four runs, two doubles, two home runs, eight RBI and a stolen base. The junior had two multi-hit games and three multi-RBI performances in a three-game series at Connecticut. She had a double, home run and RBI in each of the first two games against the Huskies. Bemis slugged 1.625 for the week and finished the regular-season tops in the BIG EAST with a 1.032 slugging percentage.
The Cardinal softball team earned the No. 3 seed in the 2010 BIG EAST Conference Tournament and will face sixth-seeded Pittsburgh in the quarterfinals Thursday, May 13 at 6:30 p.m. at Ulmer Stadium.
