
Track and Field Completes Second Day at Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The nationally ranked University of Louisville men's and women's track and field teams posted three top-ten finishes and set two school records as they completed day two of the Penn Relays at historic Franklin Field in Philadelphia on Friday.
Setting the tone on the men's side was junior Neil Angermeier in the high jump college competition. Angermeier successfully cleared 6-11.05 (2.12m) on his final attempt to place third overall.
The sprint medley relay team of sophomore Jacques Caldwell, senior Tony Baffour and freshman Marcellus Hobbs and Howards Shepard III finished ninth in the Championship of America with a time of 3:24.39 and set a new school record by just under five seconds.
On the women's side, the sprint medley relay team of senior Theresa Lewis, sophomore Keisha Lockhart, freshman Chelsea Brown and senior Kat Alcorn broke the school record by over nine seconds with a time of 4:00.06 in the Championship of America to finish 14th.
Meanwhile, Lockhart took eighth overall in the triple jump college division with a leap of 39-01.25 (11.92m) which came on her first attempt.
The final day of the three-day meet will kick off at 9:00 a.m. (ET) for the Cardinals as redshirt senior Michael Johnson Jr. U of L will conclude the meet at 2:00 p.m. with the men's triple jump featuring redshirt senior Andre Black.
On Saturday, the throwing group will travel to Bowling Green, Ky. to compete at the WKU Invitational hosted by Western Kentucky University. The middle-distance group will stay close to home and compete at the Bellarmine Classic hosted by Bellarmine University. The WKU Invitational will start at 8:00 a.m. (ET) Saturday with the men's hammer throw and will end with the women's javelin at 4:30 p.m. while the Bellarmine Classic will commence at 3:05 p.m. (ET) with the women's 1,500 meters and will close with the men's 800 meters at 5:15 p.m. tentatively.
